It’s 2017! Time you got a responsive website – Part 1

We’ve talked about responsive websites quite a bit this year, but now it’s 2017, I want to look at some of the key reasons you need a responsive website for your business. This is going to be a two-parter, so strap yourself in for the “It’s 2017! Time you got a responsive website” marathon!

When we talk about “Responsive websites”, we’re talking about websites that aren’t built for any specific phone or tablet. Here at Locus Visual Arts, we build our responsive websites so that they’re completely scalable to any device. So whether you’ve got an iPhone, iPad or the brand new Google Pixel phone, your website will look awesome on any device, no matter its size. Believe me, this is a giant leap forward from the “mobile site”, which meant that a website was built for mobile devices in mind only. You must’ve come across a mobile site at some point. Mobile sites normally had a web address that looked like this – m.locusvisualarts.com, with the “m” standing for mobile. The problem with mobile websites was that a site owner had to create two sites. Yep, two! You thought one was hard enough to manage, imagine having to create two. One for desktop users, and the other for mobile users. Every time you made a change to the desktop site, you had to fiddle with the mobile site and make the same changes. Time, my friend, is money, and if you’re spending time doing the same things on two websites, you’re losing money. On the other hand, responsive websites can adapt to any existing or future devices, and we’re create hundreds of responsive websites for happy business owners in Dallas and now across the world, every year!

Using mobile devices to shop is growing, and growing, and growing…

If there’s one main reason why you need to have a responsive website for your business, then it’s because mobile shoppers are growing rapidly, not steadily. Recent data shows us that over 80% of all Americans have shopped through their phone or tablet at one time or another in the last 12 months. That’s phenomenal! If you don’t have a responsive website for your business, chances are you’re missing out on making sales. If you’re a business owner, you’re in business to make money, right? Of course you are, which is why converting your website to being responsive, is the best decision you’re going to make in 2017.
